Reta Wallis is a proud Canadian, born and raised in a rural town in Nova Scotia, Canada. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Master’s in Social Work at Utah State University. She has worked in many different settings- residential facilities for girls with eating disorders, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those with severe and persistent mental illnesses. During her internship she worked in a hospital behavioural health unit and with sex offenders.
She has experience working with individuals affected by depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorders and trauma. She is a member of The Mormon Mental Health Association, LGBTQ-Affirmative Therapist Guild of Utah and Black Lives Matter Utah.
Reta believes that change happens when people are empowered to draw upon their own inner strengths and she provides an environment of support and compassion. She has an eclectic approach and uses cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution focused and narrative therapy.
Reta loves spending time with her family and dog, Baxter. She loves anything related to true crime and can be seen at Chugz at least once a day.
